Since using fine grain Japanese Akadama in combination with fine grain Pumice as substrate for my Haworthias, I have noticed a significant reduction in the occurrence of root pests and root rot. The plants look healthier and stronger in general. The Akadama component keeps the necessary moisture around the roots, while the pumice betters aeration to the roots. What I like most about Akadama is that it has a darker colour when wet. This serves as a great indication of when the plant needs to be watered or not, which makes my watering regimen significantly easier.
I mixed the Japanese Akadama and Pumice in 50:50 mix and potted up my lithop seedlings. So far they are doing great. This subrate is perfect when excellent drainage is required
Goods came before expected date. Communication was prompt and friendly. Products was as advertised. Bonsai Tree just ticks all the right boxes and will definitely see me again. May you grow from strength to strength.
Awesome Zahier. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I am very happy that we were able to meet and exceed your expectations.
Used it on different Haworthia, Aloe pepe and Euphorbia monadenium ritchiei. Within week small roots formed. Within a months time the Haworthia tulista angel tears roots grew from no roots to about 12cm long. The colour of the plants in the Akadama went from "dull" to a bright green. I am trying it again on my cacti, placed it in bowl on the 25th of September. Will keep you up to date. Thank you very much.
This is great Leatitia! It's so nice to see enthusiasts trying different things and then giving this feedback. It is not only helpful to me, but also to other succulent growers who I am sure will be most grateful for you sharing.
The akadame works wonder for the trees...
