I bought this for an anniversary gift and it was packaged with great care. I thought the ceramics that came with the kit were such a stunning color. It also arrived faster than I expected (Western Cape). Great for a starter hobbyist
The service was good. My starter kit was delivered in less than a week and it was nicely packaged. Unfortunately, none of the ficus natalensis seeds germinated and only 2 acacia seeds germinated.
Thanks for the review Ndumiso and the pics. The challenge with the ficus seeds is that they are SOOOOOO tiny. You have to be careful not to plant them too deep. However do not give up hope, they may germinate yet as it has been pretty cold. Perhaps then you can increase your star rating for our services :)
Great value for money. I needed more pots so decided to buy this collection for all the additional goodies. The acacia seeds are growing really well in the Bloemfontein climate.

I received the Bonsai Apprentice Collection as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend and was extremely excited to start some future bonsai from seed. I received the Celtis Africana and Diospyros whyteana seeds in my kit. I planted 3 Celtis seeds in regular nursery seedling mix, all three of which germinated. I've since made cuttings from the seedlings and repotted into the included Bonsai Tree general soil mix to encourage a fine radial root system. The Diospyros seeds will be sown in the upcoming spring. Apart from the seeds and soil the rest of the collection is all top notch! I love using the pruning shears for general trimming and even some mild root pruning (I've since upgraded to the Kikuwa trimming scissors available from Bonsai Tree for my finer, more accurate pruning), and have used the 1mm wire on a few of the other trees in my collection. In spring 2 of my smaller trees will be going into the included pots for a fresh looks for the next few seasons. Excellent product, excellent service!
