The bonsai artist can easily create attractive bends in the tree's form by wrapping suitable wire around its branches or trunk. This shaping technique can be applied in late spring through autumn for deciduous trees and in winter for evergreens like pines and junipers. To achieve superior hold, it's recommended to use annealed copper wire for evergreens, while anodized aluminium wire is the material of choice for deciduous trees. Other uses for wire include guy wiring, fixing drainage mesh, and securing freshly repotted trees into their pots.
